ABOUT LEAH

With support and the right tools, anyone is capable of healing their past and developing their true potential — no matter what obstacles they may have been facing. I am a licensed psychotherapist serving adults and older teens in the Miami area (including Aventura, North Miami, Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, and Surfside). I especially enjoy working with young professionals in their 20s and 30s to help them identify what isn’t working well in their lives, create solutions for those roadblocks, and discover new aspects of themselves that they can fall in love with.

MY BACKGROUND:

I speak several languages other than English, including French, Italian, Hebrew, and Yiddish. This has made therapy more accessible for some clients who feel more comfortable because I can speak and understand the language they are most fluent in. Although I do not feel 100% confident to conduct a session entirely in a language other than English, I find that most clients are satisfied with a half and half approach (a mix of English and their fluent language), which allows them to speak to me in their language with the confidence that I can understand their unique expressions.

I strive to be culturally sensitive with every client. My therapeutic approach varies according to the unique context of your life, your personality, and your current needs. In addition to creating a therapy atmosphere that feels encouraging and accepting, I will provide you with concrete tools and skills that you can use outside of therapy to gain a sense of greater control over your own life.

I am licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (MHC) and as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in the state of Florida. I also hold the National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential. I have earned advanced certification in traumatic stress from world-renowned experts at the Bessel Van Der Kolk Institute. My graduate degree is a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy.

AM I THE RIGHT COUNSELOR FOR YOU?

I believe in offering practical, hands-on tools for change that can be incorporated throughout your life, such as mindfulness techniques. I also stay educated on the latest developments in neuroscience (the study of how our human brain and nervous system work to influence how we feel and behave), as I feel it’s important for a counselor to be up to date on how the mind and body are connected. But most of all, I see the therapeutic relationship as a safe space for healing and growth — somewhere you can always expect to be respected, validated, and supported.

If this resonates with you, we may be a good therapeutic fit. Click here to read more about the therapy services I provide to people in the Miami area, including Aventura, North Miami, Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, and Surfside.
